"There is "The White Lady," a silent type living in a world of her own; "Tracy," a wild, hot-tempered flirt; "Rose Black," a mean scream-queen; and several other personalities that all struggle for dominance in one woman's body."

"My interest in Dutch folklore and heritage , is due to my childhood in a traditional Dutch family in the rural area of Noord-Holland. As a very down-to earth “Noord-Hollandse”, I value truth and straightforwardness. My way of working is best described as the Dutch verb “niet lullen maar poetsen”, what you can more or less translate as: doing rather than talking, I trust my intuition and never exactly plan what the outcome should be, it is designing by doing. This, together with my interest in and exploration of crafts and techniques, resulted in the unique shoe collection “Modern Heritage”.

Dream of the butterfly

The story of the collection started from a phrase, Dream of the Butterfly of Zhuang Zhou. With his philosophy that nature and human are in one circle of life, I wanted to design a harmony between nature and artificial structures. To recreate artificial nature, living things or geometrical textures such as the bark of a tree, tree ring and animal skins were described with animals and insects shaped folding objects or handcrafted materials.

"My collection offers a fresh perspective on walking and shoe design.
I challenged myself to discover the boundaries of our movements and posture. I collected toys that triggered movement, like bouncing balls, and used them in the shoes’ construction, developing a new way of walking and giving a new experience to the wearer. The toys add fun to the shoes - a key ingredient in my design philosophy."

The collection PULP tells the story of how it is possible to make good-quality textiles from materials that didn’t have a purpose anymore. Natalie de Koning developed all textiles from scratch using techniques like hand-knitting, embroidering, hand-weaving and other self-developed innovative techniques of making textiles and garments.

‘Ku’ is about transitions – a celebration of life and death and the stories we leave behind after we pass away. After death, in the memories of others, we’re better, bigger, faster, stronger than we were in reality. Our beauty may well be in our decay; our impermance and fragility.

This Must Be A Mistake - Hazal Karasah

"Can fashion create a blend between the logic of our digital behaviour and the chaos of our nature? What is the digital side of femininity? And how do we express it? Are we able to grasp ‘the soul of the machine’? ‘This must be a mistake’ is a shoe collection by Hazal Karasah that explores the feedback loop between women and technology. Inspired by contemporary glitch art, it looks for answers in the void between conscious expression and random visual error."
